Baby Kara

March 2007 - Baby Kara

John and Lisa wanted a better birth the second time around, so they chose a HypnoBirth. Here's their letter following the birth of Kara.

"Here's our happy news! Baby daughter Kara was born last tues at 6.50 in the morning weighing 9lb 2oz. I went into slow labour the day before. The hypnobirthing was really good throughout the labour - the breathing really helped,as did the prompting by John ( he did a great job throughout). The only drawback was I had to do a lot of pushing at the end - couldnt really breathe her down but probably started too soon. (midwives were good but obviously dont understand all the techniques).

I had no pain relief whatsoever and didnt tear (hoorah!) the midwives were very impressed & it was so nice to be at home. I didnt get to use my pool and gave birth in the lounge on the bean bag, complete change of plan!

When I went to the hospital for my anti-d they had all been talking about it. One of them asked us about hypnobirthing & said she is going to find out more - she was very interested as she runs relaxation classes.

Kara is very alert, relaxed & has taken to the breast with no problems at all. Big sis was there for the whole thing, encouraging me & cutting the cord - so we're all thrilled to bits. We will heartily recommend the classes in the future & thanks again.

Take care
Lisa & John.
p.s: the midwife only put me down as having a 2 hour labour - thats when I started to push! as I was so calm prior to that. "
