Mindful Hypnobirthing with Rebecca Snook
My birth experiences
To prepare antenatally in my first pregnancy I used hypnobirthing techniques to calm my mind, stay focussed and believe in my ability to give birth. I had a complex pregnancy and it was important to me to have a positive outcome, no matter how the birth experience began to unfold. I can confidently and proudly say that I was pleased with how things went. Sure I had to make a few compromises along the way. I ended up choosing to go to the birth centre, mid labour instead of staying home, but I remained steadfast in my sense of personal autonomy, which I believe was crucial to my overall feeling of success.
I gave birth to my second baby, at home, faster than I even knew was possible!
I come from an events background with a passion for creating memorable experiences. I’ve worked at Tate Modern and Tate Britain, the Olympics and in many multidisciplinary arts festivals. I am Australian, love traveling, exploring cultural experiences and have lived in the US, France and now the UK. I have a love of the visual arts, of circus, of cabaret and of storytelling.
My most recent learning curve is that of becoming a mother to two wonderful little humans.
Hypnobirthing, mindfulness and my drama training all helped in both my labours, which were natural delivery and without drugs. They were intense, but I can wholeheartedly say I enjoyed them. I felt empowered by the experience.
It’s my passion to pass on what I learnt to help other women and their birthing partners prepare for this transformative time of life.
