Jo attended our Mindful Mamma Class in Grantham in June and this is the story of his birth and how the techniques from the class her during labour.
I couldn’t wait to email and let you know how the birth of my little boy went….

Max Michael
Max’s Birth Story
My waters broke at 4am on Wednesday morning (36+6 days) but labour did not start afterwards. Qmc were keen on me going in to be monitored with a view to be induced after 24 hours, especially with me not being term (by 1 day!) I insisted on them giving me another 24 hours and they said if I went in to be monitored for half an hour and they were happy baby was ok then I could go home to see if labour progressed naturally. So I went in to hospital Thursday morning and they also gave me a sweep to see if that would move things along.
Luckily, contractions started around 5pm on Thursday and by 10pm I was in established labour and got into the pool. I laboured for 8 hours (around 6 of which I was in the pool for) second stage was around 18 minutes long and little Max was born in the water at 6am Friday morning.
I am very proud to say I had absolutely no pain relief, just my hypno tracks playing, breathing techniques and very strong support system. (My midwife Pikyok, my stepmum Cathy (also a midwife) and my partner Nick).
Also no tears or stitches which was one of my biggest fears!
I’m not going to say it was a breeze as it was hard work! But I could not of wished for a more positive first birth.
We had immediate skin to skin and he latched on almost instantly and is feeding brilliantly. I have one very happy, content baby!!
I’m so glad I discovered hypnobirthing, I honestly believe without your book, hypno tracks and class, my birth story would have taken a very different route. Hypnobirthing completely changed my mindset on childbirth and gave me the confidence I needed in myself and my body to do it. I couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
Thanks again and all the best for the future.
